When I was a boy my mother often cooked things without a book or recipe. We thought nothing of it then, but now I often wish I could cook some of the good things she brought to the table. Unfortunately she is no longer able to remember what went into the pot.Maria to the rescue!
This little book is just what I needed! It has recipes for many of the foods she cooked! I haven't tried all of them yet, but the good news is they are simple, easy to follow and all sound delightful. Fresh blueberry pie! Too bad my blueberries are done bearing for this year, but lucky for me there are more in the store.
I love chicken liver pate, but my doctor won't let me eat it any more, so I am anxious to try Maria's mock chicken liver pate. It's low in calories and low in that bad cholesterol stuff!
I am not likely to try any of the eggplant dishes, when I was a boy we got eggs from our hens. I didn't even know they could be grown in a garden until I was out of college! I love green eggs and ham, but whoever heard of purple eggs? I'm sure Maria's will be good, but I haven't tried them, not yet!
If you like Lamb Shanks, you're sure to love these!
Try the Eggs Benedict with easy to make, low calorie Hollandaise sauce! What a treat for Sunday morning brunch!
Another thing I love about this book is there are no pictures of beautifully presented food. My wife and I can make them look the way we like without feeling we failed because they lack "cover-girl" quality!
So many of the dishes called for Syrian pepper. What the heck is that? Lucky for me that recipe is enclosed. The book, at any price, is worth it just for this recipe! It only takes a minute to make and will delight your palate.
Mary and I had it this morning on our eggs; it was sensational!
I'm not going to give that recipe away, so BUY THE BOOK! You'll be glad you did. It should be in every kitchen!

Maria Kitchen "The Foodprint of My Life" edition by Maria Wyshak Cookbooks Food Wine eBooks Reviews
Who doesn't love their grandmother's cooking? When I found out that my grandmother had written her own cookbook I couldn't believe it. After years and years of enjoying all of her foods I can now prepare them for myself in my own home. The recipes are very easy to follow with a clear narrative.
What sets this cookbook aside is its incredible diversity. It's not like any other cookbook out there, which is why most people require so many different cookbooks. In this book there are recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, salad, dessert, soups etc. spanning across many different cultures. The book includes some of my grandmother's favorite Irish, Syrian, Greek, Italian and American dishes over the course of her life.
If you like trying new foods and you enjoy cooking, try Maria's Kitchen and I know you'll fall in love with these dishes just as much as I did when I was growing up.
Maria's Kitchen is a unique collection of traditional and ethnic foods presented in an easy to prepare fashion so that you can WOW your guests with some very exciting and non-traditional dishes.
If you want some ideas for preparing a formal dinner, she has recipes that would please the most picky eater in your family. Also, if your looking to prepare an informal luncheon with the girls, or need to bring something to a potluck, Maria has just the thing. Even though she has a whole section on Appetizers and hors d'oeuvres, some of her greatest gems come from the Breakfast, and the Soups, Salads and Veggies sections. Just reading the recipe ingredients and the instructions for these tantalizing little creations made me hungry to taste it.
Truthfully, most pot lucks, tend to be boring and predictable, with the same old standard fare. But bring in one of Maria's creations and watch how people go for them. Everyone will be asking you how you made it, and you can just say, "it's an old family recipe".
She even has a recipe for a variation on the healing powers of Chicken Soup. She calls it Beef Tea; which she says she has made and given to her children when they were sick, and it soothed what ailed them.
What more could you ask from a cook book!
I thought that this book would be interesting, what few recipes there were are not easy to find, have to read through everything, I prefer recipe books to be straight forward
I love to try different recipes and these recipes are very easy to follow and lot of them have common ingredients that I have on hand. Nothing worse than finding a recipe you want to try and have to stop and try and find stuff you have never heard of
